Optimum Group partners with ClimateCamp to address increasing customer demands for carbon data and to handle the complexity of Scope 3 reporting. They needed a flexible solution to gather supplier data without overloading internal teams. ClimateCamp’s platform delivers accurate Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reporting, streamlines supplier engagement, and provides a feedback panel on key sustainability topics like CSRD and SBTi.
The company’s sustainability journey began when their Belgian sister company received a customer request for a sustainability rating from EcoVadis. In response, they explored what was needed at a group level, which resulted in the first actions of calculating their Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
As customer expectations evolved, they began receiving more in-depth questions about their total carbon footprint. To support this effort, they recruited interns to study Power BI and AI in the U.S and to build an internal tool to manage emissions data when they got back. Meanwhile, the IT department also developed a Power BI solution—but the core challenge remained: collecting data, especially from suppliers.
This prompted the team to look for external solutions focused on Scope 3 emissions and especially platforms which support supplier engagement capabilities. As they started engaging some of their suppliers themselves, they realized how new and unfamiliar these carbon-related questions were for many of them. They needed not only a platform, but a partner that has the expertise and resources to deal with all levels of carbon maturity from suppliers.
Optimum Group™ was looking for a flexible, future-proof solution to support its growing sustainability ambitions—especially with regards to collecting data from suppliers. Because of increasing customer demands, they needed a platform that could adapt to their evolving needs, both in functionality and pricing.
ClimateCamp offered exactly that: a dynamic platform that not only calculates Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions but excels in collecting and integrating supplier data for accurate Scope 3 reporting. As their understanding of carbon management deepened, ClimateCamp grew alongside them—providing access to a wide range of emission factor databases.
Beyond the technology, ClimateCamp proved to be a valuable thought partner—supporting Optimum Group™ with guidance on CSRD, SBTi, and other emerging regulatory and strategic challenges. With a flexible, collaborative approach, ClimateCamp has become a trusted partner in their carbon calculation and reduction journey.
“ .... Carbon Footprinting and Sustainability regulations, have become very complex topics over the past years. ClimateCamp have proven themselves as a valuable partner in finding the right path in this complex world. ” - Jelle Van Wezep – Sustainability officer
Together with ClimateCamp, Optimum Group™ has completed a comprehensive carbon inventory for the past three years. This marks a key milestone in their climate journey, providing the baseline needed to advance for their commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Next steps include setting concrete SBTi reduction targets, aligning on decarbonization actions, and preparing the SBTi submission for validation.
