
LCGlass, part of the Anders Invest investment group with operations in the Netherlands and Portugal (Leerdam Crisal Glass NL and Crisal PT), is a major manufacturer of energy-intensive glass products. With roots dating back to 1765, the company has long been a cornerstone of Dutch glass production and a strong advocate for sustainability. LCGlass continues to invest in new production technologies to reduce emissions throughout the glassmaking process and in broader sustainability initiatives across its operations. Its collaboration with ClimateCamp represents the next step in reinforcing its role as one of the most sustainable glassware producers.
Because LCGlass has been subject to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) since 2008, Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions calculations were already well managed within the company.
However, Scope 3 presented a new challenge. The team faced limited access to, and understanding of emission factors and relevant databases, as well as a lack of in-house expertise and resources to address the Scope 3 topic effectively. They had previously carried out an initial test project with a student focused on transportation but soon realized the amount of work involved made it impossible to manage with internal capacity alone.
