Introduction
Laminated Timber Solutions (LTS Belgium) is an industry acknowledged supplier of large span and highly complex load-bearing structures in glued laminated timber elements. They engineer, design, manufacture and install enhanced timber structures for major construction projects across the Benelux and France. As part of the CFE Group, LTS Belgium specializes in enhanced timber solutions, including glue-laminated timber (GLULAM), cross-laminated timber (CLT), Lignatur, and Kielsteg systems, for commercial, industrial and residential projects as well as swimming pools.
With sustainability at the heart of its mission, LTS Belgium embraces innovation to measure and reduce the environmental impact of their construction solutions.
Their challenge
LTS Belgium had already been reporting Scope 1 and 2 emissions internally but recognized the need to expand to Scope 3.
The trigger came from both a Dutch customer requesting a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), as well as upcoming CSRD requirements. Head of Engineering Jeroen Deruddere, who is also responsible for sustainability reporting, had followed a VOKA training to better understand Scope 3 and quickly realized that calculating emissions in-house would be highly time-intensive and difficult without a dedicated platform or team.
With five separate companies and a full workload on his plate, LTS Belgium and specifically Jeroen needed a solution that could:
- Calculate Scope 3 with minimal time requirement from Jeroen
- Transition from spend-based to activity-based calculations wherever possible
- Collect primary supplier data to integrate into activity-based calculations and improve accuracy
- Report on emissions reduction progress year-over-year
Climatecamp's solution
LTS Belgium partnered with ClimateCamp to bring clarity, speed, and accuracy to their carbon accounting process. The ClimateCamp platform was configured to match LTS Belgium’s internal structure, allowing emissions to be reported per subsidiary and rolled up into a group-wide overview.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Flexible calculation methodology: The team applied a hybrid approach, using spend-based calculations where data was limited, while integrating activity-based data and supplier-specific emission factors wherever possible.
- Supplier engagement execution: ClimateCamp’s onboarding specialists reached out directly to suppliers, collecting primary Scope 3 data at scale.
- Emission factor expertise: ClimateCamp’s database and expert validation streamlined the search and application of the correct emission factors
- Time-saving: By outsourcing data collection, validation, and reporting to ClimateCamp, LTS Belgium avoided pulling Jeroen or engineers away from core projects. A quick simulation confirmed that managing the process internally would have been far more costly than ClimateCamp’s support.
- Easy-to-use platform: With its clear interface and granular reporting, ClimateCamp provides LTS Belgium with a single source of truth for emissions data across all entities. This makes it easier to maintain oversight internally and report seamlessly to the CFE Group.

Results
LTS Belgium has successfully completed its full Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) for 2024, achieving a detailed and accurate footprint by using activity-based data wherever possible.
