Discover how ChocDecor uses ClimateCamp to accelerate its sustainable leadership and validate lower-carbon products.

Introduction

ChocDecor is a leading Belgian manufacturer of high-quality decorated chocolate lollipops. With sustainability deeply embedded in the beliefs of its founder and CEO, the company is taking active steps to reduce its environmental impact. In recent years, the company has almost fully eliminated Scope 1 and 2 emissions and is now focusing on the much larger challenge of Scope 3 emissions.

Their challenge

Before partnering with ClimateCamp, ChocDecor was already an SDG pioneer. The team had already calculated its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using industry-average data and was running various reduction and social initiatives.

Over the years, internal energy emissions were largely addressed through self-generated renewable energy, leaving only around 2% of total emissions in Scope 1 and 2. As a result, Scope 3 remained the dominant challenge.

To move forward, the team needed a clearer understanding of what drives these emissions, where the biggest reduction opportunities lie, and how to involve their value chain to take measurable action.

Climatecamp's solution

To tackle these challenges, ChocDecor partnered with ClimateCamp to support supplier engagement and integrating primary data, as well as calculating PCFs.

ClimateCamp helped ChocDecor by providing:

  • A central platform to gather and calculate emissions data across Scopes 1, 2 and 3
  • Support in supplier engagement outreach, especially for material inputs where primary data was lacking
  • Guidance for suppliers on how to improve their data quality and reduction efforts
  • Tools and reporting capabilities to integrate carbon data into the company’s internal processes

After the initial collaboration focused on Scope 3 and supplier engagement, ChocDecor also worked closely with ClimateCamp to calculate Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) for newly developed items. One of which was an alternative product redesign using larger volumes and less packaging, to demonstrate how sustainability improvements can both reduce emissions and support market positioning.

“The process with ClimateCamp was smooth and intuitive. The team is very supportive, always ready to help and quick to respond.” - Flore

“We explored how sustainability could support our product positioning, and ClimateCamp really helped us in that process by calculating PCFs of a lollipop alternative with less packaging and lower emissions.”

Results

The collaboration between ChocDecor and ClimateCamp has already delivered measurable progress:

  • ChocDecor has established a reliable method to gather, calculate and track carbon emissions across key categories.
  • The team now understands where its biggest Scope 3 emissions come from and where reduction is feasible.
  • A first phase of supplier engagement has begun, generating usable primary data and exposing data quality challenges where they exist.
  • The partnership has elevated internal carbon literacy (“speaking CO₂ language”) and set the stage for future reduction planning.
  • Chocdecor has the impact data to start testing the positioning of their lower carbon products in the market.

ChocDecor’s experience demonstrates that ambition without data doesn’t translate into action. With ClimateCamp’s guidance and tools, the company is moving from high-level reduction goals to a more structured, data-driven Scope 3 reduction roadmap.
